STUDENTS have raised money to buy DVDs and games for young cancer patients at Southend Hospital.
Teenagers at Eden Training centre, in Westcliff, raised more than £700 after one of their sisters was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and treated at the hospital.
They raised the money from a sponsored pier walk and cake sales. Their total of £383 was matched by the directors of Eden Training.
The students are aged between 14 and 16 and have had difficulties at mainstream schools. Eden Training offers alternative education courses with work-based learning programmes.
Liz Lawrence, of Southend Hospital, said: “We will use the money to help buy hand held games, laptop computers and DVDs. We are very grateful to the students.”
