SCI-FI fans will be fighting it out for a signed Doctor Who picture as part of a charity sale.

A mountain of goods, from musical instruments to a 1930s radio, will be on sale to raise money for the StrokeBusters appeal at Southend Hospital.

Joyce Long, 78, who has raised more than £1.2million for Southend Hospital and has gained an MBE for her fundraising, is holding the sale.

She said: "I've always done the sales, but I used to collect, years and years ago, going around with the collection boxes.

"People know the money goes to the right place and they know I don't take anything out of it."

The sale will run from 9am to 4pm, from next Monday to Saturday, at Mrs Long's home, 22 Park Road, opposite the White Hart Pub, in Thundersley.
