A major road is set to be shut as Canvey's annual Christmas switch-on event takes place this weekend.
The event returns to the top of the High Street on Saturday with festivities for all the family to enjoy from 12pm to 5pm, including an ice rink, Christmas market, fun fair rides and craft activities.
As a result, there will be a temporary road closure in Furtherwick Road from the junction of Foksville Road to the junction of Waarden Road to allow the event to be held and organisations taking part to set up and dismantle their equipment and stalls.
The road closure will be in place from 7am until 7.30pm.
A Canvey Town Council spokesman added: "Please be aware that there will be noise before, during and after our Christmas event during these timings. Pedestrian/emergency access will be maintained. The alternative route for traffic will be signposted throughout the day."
Access for residents living in Lionel Road will be from Convent Road and Fairlop Avenue as the top of Lionel Road into Furtherwick Road will be temporarily closed.
Buses will be diverted and taxis will be available from the top of Lionel Road. There will also be a pick up and drop off point in the Knightswick Shopping Centre car park.
Businesses are urged to take the event into consideration when arranging deliveries.
