VOLUNTEERS and community workers have planted 100 trees on a plot on Canvey as part of efforts to transform it into a “beautiful community space”.
Anna Wilson, from Essex social movement United in Kind, joined volunteers from charity Trust Links to plant the trees at the former Gunny military site.
She said: “These trees have been planted as part of redevelopment of the site as it begins its transformation into what will become a beautiful community space.
“I’ve never given much thought to tree planting before, but I’ve come away feeling quite excited at the prospect of a tree I planted today remaining there for years to come.
“The Gunny Project will be offering all kinds of planting and gardening tasks over the course of the year so follow their page and see what you can add to the future of the community garden.”
