CHARLEY Jennings ran an incredible 113.4 miles to secure more HARP 24 success.
The 44-year-old from Rayleigh won the 24 hour long event for the third year in succession.
But Saturday’s success was Jennings’ best so far and she was also happy to equal the course record.
“I was really pleased with the run,” said Jennings.
“I ran 113.4 miles, which is further than I’ve ever run before.
“I went out with the aim to enjoy it and that if it felt OK I would try to equal Jeff’s course record, which I did, so I am really happy.”
HARP 24 sees teams and individuals complete loops of 4.2 miles which start and finish at Westcliff Rugby Club.
And Jennings remains a big fan of the event which raises funds for the Southend-based charity which helps the homeless.
“I love HARP 24,” said Jennings.
“It is such a friendly event and everyone is so supportive of each other.
“It is like a running festival, where people can do one lap or lots of laps.
“There is also a junior 2.4k event now which makes it a family event too. The relay teams seem to have a great time and if I couldn’t run, I’d still help out because it is such a wonderful event for a great cause. Harp make such a difference to people’s lives.”
But, after such a demanding run, Jennings now plans to take a break before returning to action.
“I’m going to have a bit of a rest now,” said Jennings.
“But I’m running a 50k at the end of July, a marathon and 50 mile run in September and hopefully my 100th marathon in October too.”
