JESSICA Judd insists she is ‘buzzing’ after sealing her place in this summer’s Olympics.
The 26-year-old, from Canvey Island, ran 31:20:84 over 10,000m at the British Championships on Saturday night to seal her place in Team GB for Tokyo.
And Judd, a former Castle View School pupil, was full of smiles at the finish line.
“I can’t believe it, I’m just buzzing,” said Judd.
“I thought I could get top two but getting the time is another thing and to do both in one race is brilliant.
“I wanted to stick with the GB girls as they know what they’re doing.
“I sometimes get a bit hot headed and surge do I didn’t want to surge this time and tried to run the perfect race.
“I stuck to the kerb as well and I never normally do that!
“I thought I was going to trip over but to do it is amazing.”
And Judd can now look forward to her first ever Olympics.
“It had been feeling like everyone had gone!,” said Judd.
“In 2012 everyone had great hopes for me but it doesn’t always go that way.
“It’s not always linear and sometimes you can have the worst times.
“I tore my hamstring in 2016 and last year the Olympics didn’t happen.
“I used that year to get fit but 2021, the odd Olympics, I’m finally going to.”
