JESSICA Judd finished her season with a 10th placed finish in the final of the 10,000m at the European Championships.
Judd, who is from Canvey Island, looked in some discomfort during the latter stages of the race which she completed in 32 minutes, 23.98 seconds.
And the 27-year-old admitted it had been tough going after testing positive for Covid following the World Championships last month.
Writing on Instagram, Judd said: “Catching Covid for my 5k final in Eugene did not set up Commonwealths and Europeans well, but I gave it a damn good go.
“I’ve had a lot of people asking if I’m OK after last night so thank you.
“I couldn’t feel my legs with 11 laps to go and it was such a struggle to make it to that finish line!
“I remember watching Berlin from home in 2018 so I knew I had to finish, albeit very slowly.
“I’m sorry to my family and friends for having to watch me in a complete state. I’m sad and sore but otherwise fine.
“Sadly, I buried myself in Birmingham trying to race after Covid and my body just had no more for Europeans last night but this season has been incredible.”
“It’s easy to always want more but I’m taking a moment to remind myself of all I’ve achieved this year.”
