ILLEGAL horse and trap races planned across parts of Essex this weekend have sparked dispersal orders.
The orders will be in place in the Epping Forest and Brentwood districts from 11.30am today until 11.59pm on Bank Holiday Monday and covers the areas shown on the maps below.
Essex Police says this is due to information received about planned unauthorised horse and trap racing.
The dispersal order will give officers powers to direct anyone suspected of causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area or face arrest.
Inspector Jonathan Main said: “Racing on public road networks is an offence, and will result in us taking enforcement action.
“These activities can be conducted lawfully elsewhere, such as on private land.
“We will not tolerate the use of our district’s roads for an illegal sporting event and will deal with offences robustly. The dispersal order will allow us to protect our local communities from any anti-social behaviour.”
