SOUTHEND Lawn Tennis Club have handed over a cheque for more than £14,000 to the mental health charity Mind.
The money was raised by the club after Echosport reporter Chris Phillips spent 11 hours five minutes playing tennis to mirror the famous match at Wimbledon between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut.
And South East and Central Essex Mind fundraising officer Keeley Hood was in attendance to thank the club for their efforts.
"We at South East and Central Essex Mind are truly blown away and overwhelmed with gratitude for Chris and his incredible Mindset and Match tennis marathon fundraiser he held in aid of us," said Keeley.
"What Chris has accomplished is truly remarkable.
"Thank you to everyone that supported Chris along his amazing journey and kindly donated and for raising awareness and vital funds for your local mental health charity."
The event saw Chris playing 22 different opponents on court, including Southend United boss Kevin Maher, ex Blues manager Steve Tilson and current Gillingham chief Neil Harris.
He also received messages of support from Ryan Peniston, Sue Barker, Judy Murray, Nicolas Mahut and Martina Navratilova
The event raised £14,112 in total.
