CHARLIE McIntyre has made the final shortlist for the prestigious BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
The 18-year-old, from Southend, has enjoyed an incredible 2023 in wheelchair basketball, winning a whole host of honours.
The former Eastwood Academy pupil helped Great Britain's under 22 team win the Home Nations Championship before signing his first professional contract with top Italian side Dinamo Sassari.
McIntyre told the BBC: "I am absolutely honoured to have even made it on the list for the Young Sports Personality of the Year, let alone to have made it in the top three contenders.
"It feels so amazing."
Previous winners of the award include former F1 star Jenson Button, England and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, Olympic champion diver Tom Daley, Man City winger Phil Foden and ex decathlete Dean Macey who is from Canvey Island.
Snowboarder Mia Brookes and archer Penny Healey have also made the final shortlist.
The winner will be announced on Tuesday December 19.
