Proposal to convert 20 places into boarding places at Glenwood School
Notice is given in accordance with the School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013 that Essex County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to: Glenwood School (Community Special School) Rushbottom Lane, New Thundersley, Benfleet, SS7 4LW from 1st September 2019. All requirements for consultation in respect of developing this proposal have been complied with.
The current permanent capacity of Glenwood School is 150 (210 from September 2017 under previously approved proposals). The school is currently being rebuilt on another site as a result of previous proposals. The proposal is that the permanent capacity from 1st September 2019 will be 210, including 20 Monday to Thursday term time boarding places.

The enlargement at Glenwood School, under previous proposals, will be achieved by the transfer of the school from its current location in Rushbottom Lane, New Thundersley, Benfleet, SS7 4LW to the adjacent site in Rushbottom Lane. The boarding accommodation will be constructed on the existing school site when the school moves into its new premises and the existing site is available for construction. The boarding accommodation will create 20 Monday to Thursday term time boarding places available from 1st September 2019.
