The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012
Basildon Borough Council ("the Council") formally approved the Basildon Borough Local Plan 2014-2034 ("the Local Plan") for submission to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government on 18 October 2018. In accordance with Regulation 19 of The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, the Local Plan and its supporting documents will be published for public consultation.
The Local Plan sets out the vision and framework for guiding development within the whole of the Basildon Borough up to 2034. It identifies the number and locations for new homes, jobs and businesses being planned for; what infrastructure is required to support them; and the areas that will be protected from development. It also contains policies that the Council will use to determine planning applications.
Consultation on the Local Plan and its supporting documents will run from Thursday 1 November 2018 until 5pm on Monday 17 December 2018. All representations must be received by the Council no later than 5pm on Monday 17 December 2018. During this time, any person or organisation may make representations. Any representations received after the consultation has closed will not be considered.

Alternatively, representations can be made using a specially designed Consultation Response Booklet which is available on request, can be downloaded via www.basildonlocalplan.co.uk, picked up from the Council's Offices at The Basildon Centre or any of the Borough libraries above.

Representations should focus on whether the Local Plan is legally compliant and whether it is considered to meet the Tests of Soundness, as specified in the National Planning Policy Framework. Those making a representation should also state whether they would like to speak at the independent examination.
Representations may be accompanied by a request to be notified at a specified address (postal or electronic) of any of the following:
1. the submission of the Local Plan to the Secretary of State for independent examination under Section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004;
2. the publication of the recommendations of the person appointed by the Secretary of State to carry out the independent examination; and
3. the adoption of the Local Plan by the Council.
