TOP teachers and pupils will be honoured at the first Gazette Education Awards.
A total of 19 winners will receive prizes at a black-tie awards ceremony at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, on Friday, November 6.
We need readers to nominate the unsung classroom heroes.
A panel of judges, including Ken Jenkinson, headteacher of Colchester Royal Grammar School, Nardeep Sharma, headteacher of Colne Community School, in Brightlingsea, and Gazette editor James Wills, will choose the winners.
Mr Wills said: “We have some top schools, teachers and support staff and it is about time their hard work was given some recognition.
“We are very exited about launching these awards and are looking forward to celebrating the work of these dedicated individuals at the ceremony.”
Jamie Marshall, managing director of Premier print and promotions, which is sponsoring the event, said: “I am a product of the local education system myself, have three children in local schools and am the employer of over 30 young people from Essex.
“Naturally, I am delighted to support these awards which celebrate the fantastic work of individuals and institutions in education across our county.”
Christine Joyce, managing director of marketing firm CJAM Group, another sponsor, said: “We are passionate about championing young, local people. We enjoy excellent relationships with schools in Colchester and Essex University and so are proud to be sponsoring these very important awards.”
