Walkers Farm Facts & History

Walkers Farm was a listed building up until 2013 and was originally run as a dairy farm until 1940. The site is in excess of 0.6 of an acre and sits 17 meters above sea level with far reaching views over the crouch valley to Rettenden. At high tides boats and sailing ships can be seen on the wate. Until the late 1960s it became an arable farm until becoming redundant. It was to be redeveloped in 1985 but suffered a damaging fire so was purchased by the current owner in 1996 and rebuilt under the direction of the renowned architect Peter Richards who worked for Essex County Council as their Heritage expert. The house was rebuilt to incorporate modern living but utilising many of the original timbers, bricks and stone salvaged from the original site.
