Basildon-based apprenticeship and work-based learning provider TheLightBulb has been rated a “Good” Grade 2 by Ofsted in its recent inspection.

The provider is one of only a few in Essex to achieve a grade 2 or above.

It was judged “Good” in all categories with Ofsted stating  they “have successfully established a culture of achievement” and “knowledgeable, caring and supportive teachers and assessors facilitate a positive learning environment that motivates and inspires learners to participate and achieve”  TheLightBulb is delighted the hard work the team have put in place to ensure they provide a high quality service to their learners and employers has been recognised by Ofsted.

  Managing director Lesley Jones says: “This is a real boost for our learners and the employers we work with. We were delighted Ofsted was so positive about the efforts we make to secure good work placements for our learners which lead to full-time employment and positive career choices.”

The positive Ofsted result tops a highly successful 12 months for TheLightBulb in which the private training provider has also been awarded a growth fund of more than £100,000 to support businesses in the area to develop  existing staff and provide opportunities for new apprentices.

The provider works with people across the county, not just in providing apprenticeships to young people but also helping the long-term unemployed get back in to work.  Students are also keen to sing their praises.

Hannah Jarman, business and administration apprentice said: “Starting an apprenticeship within TheLightBulb has helped me to develop my interpersonal skills, especially having a front of house position. I look forward to completing my Business Admin Qualification. I consider myself fortunate to work for an organisation that will allow me to progress in my career.”

Shannon Wade, a business and administration apprentice at Adore Recruitment, completed her programme in November 2015.

She said: “The apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to enter the recruitment industry. The classroom days  at TheLightBulb taught me the knowledge and understanding of business that I needed and I obtained the skills needed to progress within the company. I am now a successful junior recruitment consultant.”
