STUDENTS of TOMA - The Other MA alternative art education programme - invite you to see their end of year exhibition opening at the Beecroft Gallery this Saturday.

There will be "drinks, interventions and performances" with an after party to take place at the Twenty One art cafe on Pier Approach in Western Esplanade, Southend.

The exhibition is called Ten 2 One.

Curator and TOMA founder Emma Edmondson explained: "The first TOMA cohort of ten have spent twelve months

on the artist participant shaped unaccredited art MA and this exhibition is a reflection on and the culmination of making, learning and discourse outside the traditional art school institution."

TOMA 2016 artists are: Michaela Bannon; Richard Baxter; Matthew Curtis-Knight; Emma Edmondson; Laurence Harding; Emma Mills; Tricia North; Ian A. Ryan; Anna B. Sexton and Imogen Welch.

Ten 2 One will be held at the gallery in Victoria Avenue, Southend until February 3.

The special opening view takes place from 3pm until 5pm.

The TOMA art course is held at the Metal Art School in Chalkwell Hall, Chalkwell Park, Southend.

It is an "designed to fit the everyday lives of contemporary artists in response to the barriers that some face in accessing many traditional art MA models such as work and family commitments, costs and geography".

Ten students are selected each year by a panel of tutors, previous artist participants and representatives from Metal.

Once selected, TOMA artists directly steer the study programme (working with administrative support from Metal) choosing those who come to teach on it and the topics explored.

TOMA artists also host public projects and exhibitions as part of their time on the course.
