SKY broadband customers have been left without internet access for 24 hours.
The TV, phone and broadband giant says there have been several outages in the county.
Problems began on Friday morning as customers were unable to connect to the internet.
A statement on Sky's website says: "We’re aware of a problem affecting broadband and phone services in the Essex area. We’re working hard to resolve this issue and will let you know any further information as soon as possible.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
At 10pm last night, engineers had found the broken cables and were carrying out repairs.
Just before 8am this morning, the latest update was: "Engineers have been working overnight to fix the problem and repair work is still on-going this morning. We've seen some progress and we expect services to be gradually restored throughout today. We'll provide further updates as new information becomes available."
