FOUR people suffered burns after they were sprayed in the face near a Stanford-le-Hope pub.

Police were called to The Green, outside the Inn on the Green pub, at about 11.50pm on Saturday, April 4.

Three men aged 22, 23 and 54, and one woman aged 47, all from Rainham, had all been sprayed in the face with a substance from a bottle.

They received hospital treatment for burns to their faces and eyes.

A fifth man, a 21-year-old from South Ockendon, was also treated after being sprayed in the face.

A 54-year-old woman from Stanford-le-Hope also suffered a broken arm.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope on suspicion of assault.

He was bailed until June 3, pending further enquiries.

Police are looking for a second suspect, a white man aged in his late 20s, with short, black, gelled hair.

He had a beard, was of average build and wore a baggy white polo shirt and blue jeans.
