FROM Street to Skin is the new fascinating exhibition opening tonight at the Pride and Glory tattoo studio and gallery – a celebration of street and grafitti art, and it’s link to tattoo art.
Artists, both local and international, will be showing their work at the studio in Leigh Road, Leigh, including SkyHigh, Martijn Van Steenwijk, Nigel White, David Nash, LDN Arts, Ebee and Live2tattoo, with more to be confirmed.
The Pride and Glory studio opened in September last year, by local tattoo artist Chessie Clear, who wanted a space to not only work from as a tattooist, but also to celebrate art.
Sometimes the gallery artist exhibitions relate to tattooing, sometimes they stand alone.
She said: “From Street to Skin is a showcase of graffiti and street art culture, and a look into how it has affected and inspired the tattoo industry. It will include works from international and national graffiti painters, and tattoo artists, too.”
Past events have included Keepin It Real, a study into the works of artists exploring the world of Realism, and Skin and Bone, which showed work by a collection of artists who use the human body and anatomical art as their muse, whether putting the results on canvas or on skin.
From Street to Skin will run for a month.
There will also be live music on the night from Geezer, the Southend-based Weezer cover band.
All are welcome.
Admission is free.
