FILMMAKERS were warned after their use of distress flares sparked an emergency response.
A lifeboat was launched after a red distress flare was seen off Shoebury at about 10.15pm yesterday.
But the rescue vessel was stood down after the coastguard realised it was people filming the release of flares using a drone.
The filmmakers were advised that it was illegal to set off distress flares without it being in distress.
