Having been elected youth mayor 2007/2008 at the February Youth Council meeting, I was formally presented with my chain of office at the February Southend Council meeting.

The chain of office was presented to Southend Youth Council when we reinstated the office of youth mayor in 2005 by Evelyn Cline, who was the first youth mayor of Southend back in 1951.

I was interested to read the names of the other youth mayors inscribed on the chain and, although the youth council has kept in contact with Mrs Cline, we have not met any of the other youth mayors.

The youth council has this month opened its new headquarters in Stornoway Road and we thought it would be a good idea to have photographs of past youth mayors on the walls.

Were you once youth mayor of Southend or do you know the whereabouts of: 1953/1954 Michael Bodycomb; 1954/1955 Sylvia Bernard; 1955/1956 Jillian Norris; 1956 /1957 David Mills; 1957/1958 Jimmy Murray; 1958/1959 Rita Hitchen; 1959/1960 Graham McKean; 1960/1961 Alan Duce; 1961/1962 Rita Pilgrim; 1962/ 1963 Terry Siseman; 1963/1965 John Bambrook; 1965/1967 Iain Colquhoun; 1967/1968 Derek Coley; 1968/1969 John Herbert; 1969/1971 Jillian Barton.

Any help anyone can give us would be greatly appreciated.

I AM trying to trace descendants of the Goddards, who are part of my family heritage.

Harvey Goddard lived at Beechmont Gardens, South-end, In 1898 he married Emma Elizabeth Stephens, who died at Rochford Hospital on June 11, 1955.

They had one son, James Harvey, who was a wine and spirit merchant.

Emma had two sisters, Henrietta and Gurtrude, who both lived in the Southend area. I believe one lived at 40 Beechmont Gardens, Southend.

If anyone thinks they belong to this tree, or anyone knowing their history I would be pleased to hear from them.
