CHILDREN are being warned they are dicing with death by using inflatables in the sea off Canvey.
Iris Wallace, 77, says children are going out into the waves because a dilapidated pool at the beach off Eastern Esplanade has become unusable. Mrs Wallace is calling on Castle Point Council to return the pool to its former glory so children can swim safely again.
Mrs Wallace says the sea pool now only contains 18ins of water. She said: "I watch as mothers allow their children to go in the sea with their inflatable toys. They don't realise how dangerous it is."
Ray Howard, Tory county and borough councillor for Canvey West, said: "I will certainly look into this."
