Margaret Stoll (April 30) expressed concern about the effects of diverse cultures changing the character of Westborough Primary School in Westcliff.

The school celebrates diversity and David Amess is quite right to praise it.

Celebrating diversity is not to the detriment of any of the cultures represented by the children in the classroom.

My daughter, who attends, is perfectly comfortable with her own and her friends' ethnic backgrounds.

If anything, she is more aware of having her own English roots simply because her friends are an international and cosmopolitan bunch!

The children are all encouraged to feel positive about who they are and where they come from, and having young and inquiring minds they find it interesting, inspiring, and not a bit threatening.

It's only grown-ups who get their knickers in a twist about where people were born, whether they have the right vowel sounds, or the wrong colour skin.

So don't worry about Westborough, Mrs Stoll. They had a marvellous Nativity play, dragons for Chinese new year, and Easter fair. We are already looking forward to Diwali!
