A BUSINESS networking group for women has collected goodies and essentials to help homeless people during the festive season.

The Biz’ee Women network held its Christmas event at Burstead Golf Club, Tye Common Road, Little Burstead, this week.

The 30 business owners from across south Essex had collected toiletries, cleaning products and clothing, worth thousands of pounds, in aid of Chess, which supports homeless people in the county.

Group founder Sharon Hawkins said: “Our group is made up of community minded women who are not only passionate about their businesses but also like to help charities.

“It was suggested we help Chess to support a local charity and help people who are in greater need at Christmas, and our members enthusiastically supported the idea.”

Jacqui Parker, Chess client support senior manager, said: “We are grateful to Biz’ee Women for supporting Chess. We rely on gifts from the community and groups like this.”
