A SOUTHEND nightclub has announced they have had to cancel one of their most anticipated events.
American singer Jason Derulo was set to perform at Talk nightclub, in Lucy Road, on Friday night, but that club have annouced the event has been cancelled.
800 tickets were purchased and all will get a full refund.
The nightclub's management team have released a statement saying they had been misled and believe the singer will not perform at the venue and therefore charging fans £20 for a ticket would be unfair.
The management team said: "It is with deep regret that the management of Talk Nightclub have decided to cancel the Jason Derulo Aftershow Event that was due to take place on Friday 5th February.
"Everyone that has purchased tickets for this event will receive a full refund.
"Management took the very difficult decision to cancel the event due to the bad reviews, bad publicity and failure to attend previous shows by Jason Derulo.
"All our bookings are made in good faith and are rigorously researched beforehand.
"All recent artists have attended as advertised and have performed as expected.
"We felt that this would not be the case for Jason Derulo and therefore we had no option to cancel the event as we did not want to mislead our customers.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused and hope to see you all soon."
The nightclub will now be hosting a free club night with discounted drinks at the venue along Lucy Road, Southend.
