A PRECIOUS violin, stolen but later recovered following a television appeal, will feature in a Southend concert later this month.

The violin, a £1.2million Stradavarius that dates back to 1696, will be played by acclaimed violinist Min-Jin Kym, with accompaniment from renowned pianist Ian Brown.

The violin hit the headlines in 2010 when it was stolen from a sandwich shop in Euston Station, London.

Following an appeal on BBC TV’s Crimewatch it was found three years later at a property in the Midlands and returned to Kym.

The duo will perform at the Plaza Centre as part of Southend Council’s chamber music series.

The recital will feature music by a number of revered composers including Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms and Bartok.

The concert will be at 8pm on Friday, March 18, at 600 Southchurch Road, and tickets are available from the venue, Allegro Music in London Road, Westcliff, the visitor information centre at Southend Pirt, or by calling 01702 215011 during office hours, Monday to Friday.

Tickets cost from £9, or £6 for concessions.
