PASSENGERS are warned to expect delays at Southend Airport.

Several flights have been late both departing and arriving at the estuary terminal this morning, having a knock on effect on flights later in the day.

The 7.15am Flybe departure to Groningen did not take off until 11am while the 10.25am easyjet flight to Faro was 45 minutes late and the 10.50am Flybe service to Rennes is not expected to leave until 2.20pm.

As a result of the Groningen late departure, a second departure to the Dutch city, scheduled for 2.45pm, is not expected to leave until 5.30pm.

The 5.25pm easyjet flight to Barcelona is expected to be 30 minutes late.

Flights into the airport have also been affected, with the 9.55am from Amsterdam arriveg 50 minutes late.

The 10.20am from Groningen is not expected until 1.35pm and the 2pm arrival from Rennes is expected to be three hours late.

The delays have been caused by technical faults suffered by both Flybe and easyjet this morning, having a knock on effect to all their services for the rest of the day.
