THE death of a man who was found dead in a Pitsea stairwell is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of Sirjeet Singh, 32, in Appleford Court on Wednesday, December 30.

But police have now closed their investigation and decided Mr Singh's death was not suspicious.

The two suspects, a man, 50, from Basildon, and a man, 37, from Pitsea, have now been released from their bail with no further action to be taken against them.

Mr Singh was found unconscious in the block of flats just minutes after neighbours reported a disturbance to police in the early hours of the morning.

Police gave emergency first aid while waiting for paramedics to arrive, but Mr Singh was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was initially treated as a suspected murder, but became a manslaughter investigation after a post-mortem was carried out.
