AN AMBULANCE service and Rotary Club joined forces for a blood pressure event.

More than 110 people stepped forward to have their blood pressures measured by the ambulance service in recognition of national stroke month in May.

The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Hadleigh Castle and took place last weekend.

The event involved staff from the East of England Ambulance Service who measured 117 blood pressures.

Mike Jones of the Rotary Club said: “On behalf of the Club I would like to thank the ambulance service for the great support over the weekend which helped to make our ‘know your blood pressure’ days such a success.”

Of the 117 people tested, 14 of them were advised to see their GP as a matter of urgency and three were recommended for immediate medical attention.

Mike added: “We feel sorry for those who are suffering but are pleased at the same time that we were able to help by seeing that they get medical attention.”

The ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ day is a national campaign organised by the Stroke Association which helps people understand the link between high blood pressure and stroke.
