WORK to improve safety on a busy road will begin tomorrow and last for 16 weeks.

Preparatory work on the A130 bypass A127-A12 Rayleigh to Rettendon section will take just one night, with the full scheme starting on Tuesday.

A section of the road will be completely closed overnight for the installation of concrete barriers to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users.

Traffic will be diverted northbound from Rayleigh Spur Roundabout south of the A127 through Fairglen Interchange (A1245/A127) via the A1245 Battlesbridge Bypass.

Works to install additional drainage and stabilise the upper surface of the embankment will be carried out during daytime.

There will be some off-peak one lane closures as required between 10am – 3:30pm, to enable deliveries to site.

The scheme is being carried out by CountyRoute, who are responsible on behalf of Essex County Council for the operation and maintenance of the A130.
