SOUTHEND Airport was put on full emergency for the second time in a few days for another City Jet passenger plane.

The aircraft reported having a warning light showing there was an engine fire in number one engine.

The pilot elected for a full emergency diversion to Southend.

He was on a flight from London City to Florence, Italy.

The runway was blocked for about 15 minutes while the fire service checked out the engine.

This time police closed all the roads around the airport at Eastwoodbury Crescent and Rochford Road.

On Thursday there was another full emergency landing at the airport for another City Jet, this time due to a hydraulic problem with its brakes.
