HUNDREDS of island homes have been left without power while emergency repairs are carried out.
UK Power Networks, who are responsible for supplying electricity in the south east, confirmed it had to switch off power to 240 homes at about 6.20am in the Linden Way and Denham Road areas to ensure the work is carried out safely.
A spokesman for the firm says that engineers are working as quickly as possible, and aim to resolve the issue by 12pm.
He said: “There is currently a power cut in this area. Our engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you.
“We've had to turn off power in the area so our engineers can safely carry out emergency repairs to the network.”
