FAMILIES enjoyed a fun day out as they got a chance to make and fly their own kites and spot vintage cars.

Kite enthusiasts got the chance to watch an impressive kite display from the Kite Group as well as a spectacular classic car display, by members of the South Eastern Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club.

Alaric Cundy, a committee member for Friends of the Wick Country Park, who helped organise the day, said: “It all went very well. We had a good day and the wind finally picked up so the big kites could fly, which was good news.

“There were lots of children who came along with their own kites to fly or made ones here, and there were other activities on offer too.

“Not forgetting the classic cars, we had nine that date back to at least the 1950s and were absolutely fabulous, you could almost see your reflection in some of them.

The free day took place at the Wick Country Park, in Wickford, and was organised by Friends of the Wick Country Park, as well as the kite Group and the South Eastern Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club.
