Adventure Island one of friendliest of world’s parks

The Golden Ticket Awards honour the amusement industry’s “Best of the Best” and are based on an international survey conducted by the Amusement Today newspaper.

Operations Director, Andrew Renton, said: “Although we’re used to winning awards, many of which recognise our high customer service standards, to be ranked so highly amongst the best of the best is hugely gratifying.

“We take great pride in that, especially as everyone in the Adventure Island team works so incredibly hard as a team to achieve and maintain the standards by which the Golden Ticket Awards are judged.

“We’ve always thought we’re not the biggest park with the biggest thrill rides but we can be the friendliest.”

The free admission fun park has also enjoyed one of its busiest seasons in its 40-year history with August breaking visitor attendance records.

In light of that, Mr Renton said: “To hear that we’ve been voted as one of the top five friendliest parks in the world for a second year in a row really is the icing on the cake”

The results were announced at the world’s largest amusement park, Cedar Point in Ohio, during a ceremony.

This year’s poll was likened by Amusement Today’s Tim Baldwin to the Olympics, as a mixture of “fresh and returning talent” made up the principal contenders in each category.

“The Golden Ticket Awards celebrate the achievements of the many whose best practices have landed them on the charts.

“When considering the number of properties globally, the dedication and drive to land them on our chart of finalists is something to take pride in indeed.”

The survey asked experts and enthusiasts from across America and the rest of the world to nominate the best venues, attractions and rides in over 20 categories including; Best Steel and Wooden Roller Coasters, Best Park, Best Halloween Event, Best Food and Friendliest Park.
