A CLUBBER who was attacked with a stiletto heel told how she fears her eyesight will never return to normal.

Sophie Roberts, 28, was hit three times in the eye by another reveller at Unit 7, at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park, while waiting at the bar for a glass of water.

Despite her left eye being left bloodied and swollen after the unprovoked attack, Sophie was taken to Basildon Hospital in a taxi.

Nightclub bosses deny claims they refused to call 999 - insisting a call handler suggested they phone for a taxi.

Sophie, who was out with eight other women for a friend’s birthday on Saturday, September 17, said: “I was very excited to have a girly night out and make new friends as I didn’t know the other girls in the group.

“I spent ages with my friend doing our hair and picking what dress to wear and dancing to music together before we left.

“We were all in a happy mood looking forward to the night ahead.

“I will now be left with physical scars for the rest of my life and for any girl that is hard to deal with.”

Sophie suffered a haemorrhage at the back of her eye.

She added: “The fear of loosing my eyesight has been horrific. The emotional and physical pain has been unbearable not just for me but my family, in particular my two small children who were very scared and upset.

“I was crying and shaking in a lot of pain after the attack and I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t getting help.

“I wasn’t even given any comfort or compassion from the nightclub staff.”

A spokesman for Unit 7 said: “The safety and welfare of our customers is our number one priority and we wish the victim of this senseless attack a full and speedy recovery.

“We did everything possible on the night to support the victim, including administering first aid and contacting the ambulance service, who recommended the victim should catch a taxi to the hospital.

“We continue to cooperate fully with the police investigation.”
