TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a road was sealed off and a property was raided by police.

A 58-year-old woman, from Romford, has been detained in connection with a shooting in Stanford-le-Hope in May, which saw a man shot while he was sat in a van at a junction.

A 24-year-old man from Romford was also arrested this morning in connection with the shooting on May 10.

The victim suffered “life changing injuries” in the incident.

The male suspect is also being held in connection with the murder of Paul Simmons-Turner, who was shot dead in a hotel car park in Waltham Abbey on December 8 last year.

The duo were arrested after police carried out a search warrant at premises in Sedge Green, in Nazeing, near Harlow, this morning.

The road was shut in both directions for “public safety” reasons while officers carried out the warrant.

The Stanford-le-Hope incident saw a man driving a silver Ford Transit van shot while he was sat in his vehicle at the junction of London Road and Stanford Road, shortly before 7pm on May 10.

Both suspects remain in police custody for questioning.

Mr Simmons-Turner, 38, was gunned down outside the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey.

The murder victim was known to socialise with stars of TV reality show The Only Way Is Essex, including Mark Wright and Joey Essex.

At the time of his killing, Mr Simmons-Turner had been wanted by police for questioning in connection with an assault outside a nightclub which left two south Essex men with serious head injuries.

A 28-year-old man from Benfleet and a 29-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope were both injured in an altercation at Luxe Essex in High Road, Loughton, last May.
