A GOLF club has been going the extra mile to fundraise for a good cause.
Thorpe Hall Golf Club, in Thorpe Hall Avenue, raised an impressive £6,500 for the charity Help for Heroes throughout last year, and presented a cheque to the charity.
The cheque presentation took place during the club’s Burns Night celebrations.
The collections were made at social and golf events organised throughout 2016.
The amount reflects the generosity of the club members, as well as visitors who attended the events throughout the years.
The club captain, Gurmit Singh Chana, chose Help for Heroes as his charity during his year of captaincy having come across many servicemen during his career with the Ministry of Defence.
Paul Doe, a volunteer from Help for Heroes, said: “I feel honoured to accept the cheque on behalf of such a worthy cause.”
