A man has been stabbed to death at a house.
Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the man last night at an address in East Hanningfield Road, Rettendon Common.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the property just before midnight yesterday, Saturday March 11.
Upon arrival, police and ambulance staff found that a 19-year-old man had suffered stab wounds.
The man was given emergency treatment at the scene but sadly died.
Five men, aged 42, 37, 29, 24 and 21 have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
Police would like to offer reassurance that violent crime of this nature in Chelmsford is rare and there is no current risk to the public.
Officers are conducting a search of the area and enquiries are ongoing.
