A SOUTHEND park was given a makeover with new trees and plants.
A group of volunteers have been getting together at Blenheim Park to make sure it is ready for the summer and can be enjoyed by everyone.
Helen Boys, a Blenheim Park ward councillor, said it was a great day. She added: “It was really good and it was a lovely, sunny day.
“We had a great turnout of about a dozen people, including some from Project 49 and the park group.
“We must have put in about 600 plants in six flower beds - it was a nice family atmosphere.
“The park used to be in a state so I made it my personal mission to sort it out, and with the help of Make Southend Sparkle, we have done well.
“We all have a personal stake in the park now so I hope it stays in a good condition and people will be proud of it.
“We’ve had lots of support.”
