A PHOTOGRAPHER has won a prestigious photography competition on Canvey.
Peter Clayton is a professional wildlife photographer and decided to enter the RSPB’s Essex photography competition, which took place at the RSPB Canvey Wildlife Day.
The competition is run every year and is a joint event organised by the RSPB and Canvey Town Council.
The competition aims to celebrate the varied and impressive wildlife which has set up home on Canvey.
It was divided into three categories - under 12s, 12 to 18 and over 18.
Peter said: “There were a lot of entrants and it was very competitive so I was amazed to have not one but two images shortlisted.”
The competition was judged by the One Show star Mike Dilger and the Canvey Island Mayor Councillor John Anderson.
Peter added: “To my surprise I won the over 18s category and Mike had nothing but complimentary words to say which was fantastic.
“A hand shake and a photo opportunity along with a small prize left me a happy man.
“The winners and shortlisted entries will be on display in Wat Tyler RSPB visitor centre for the rest of the year which I am really pleased about.”
