A COMMEMORATIVE plaque has been given to footballers who represented the borough in Germany.
Mayor David Harrison presented the trophy to the Under 13 and Under 19 teams from Woodlands School, in Woodlands Approach, Basildon.
The teams competed in football tournaments in Heiligenhaus, in Germany - a town twinned with Basildon.
Mr Harrison said: “Well done to both teams from Woodlands School for their sporting achievements at the tournaments by winning three championship trophies.
“Historically, the Under 13 team were the first non-German team to win the Heiligenhaus Tournament in the 50 years of this event, which is a big achievement.
“I was proud to hear that the 24 players were really good ambassadors for their school and the Basildon borough both on and off the pitch.”
