THOUSANDS of Rochford residents have petitioned against a planning application to build 500 new homes between two parishes.
The Hullbridge Residents Association has collected 3,073 signatures from Hullbridge and Rawreth residents who believe that the big new development is not possible to achieve with the current boundary lines dividing the two areas.
A group held a demonstration at the Rochford District Council offices, in South Street, against the application yesterday.
Brian Carleton, chairman of the residents association, said: “This has been bubbling for around five years now. Only a maximum of 332 houses can be built in the current boundaries.”
Rochford District Council will make a statement on the application today.
