We’re really looking forward to the Estuary Fringe, which gets underway today.

It runs until Sunday, August 12 and we are proud to be supporting the event.

The highlight of the whole event is taking place this weekend and is called Paint Fest.

International and London-based street artists are coming to Southend to join forces with local artists for a huge project in the High Street.

The former BHS department store will be the backdrop for four large pieces of brand new public art.  Whilst Brave 1, Harry Bones, Mr Cenz, Mr Frisbee and their friends work, DJs will be playing music to create a chilled, happy vibe.  So do come down and watch as the various designs take shape over the Saturday and Sunday.

The Southend Art Trail will also be open throughout the duration of the Fringe, across the town centre and seafront.  Thirty-seven destinations will be exhibiting an original artwork produced by local artists.

These pieces will also be for sale when the festival closes.  There will also be another paint fest on Southend seafront on Wednesday.

This will take place on Eastern Esplanade from 10.30am to 3pm.

To help guide art lovers we’ve produced a detailed guide which is available as a printed booklet and can also be seen online at visitsouthend.co.uk You can also find the Estuary Fringe Festival on Facebook
