FAMILIES flocked to an annual community event at Southend’s Priory Park which proved to be a huge success once again.
Organised by the Southend Community Event Committee, made up of South Essex Homes residents, it was the 17th year that the event has taken place.
Proceeds on the day were donated to this year’s chosen charity, Southend Communities Outreach Group.
The day consisted of charities and agencies from the area setting up stalls and displays and offering information.
Thousands of people of all ages swarmed the park, enjoying the various shows and activities.
There was plenty on offer for children including bouncy castles, rides and trampolines, as well as the ‘Party with Sid’ puppet show.
There was also music to enjoy from a host of live bands.
The bake-off also proved to be popular, with prizes for the best three bakers.
Shirley O Reilly, chair of the Southend Community Event Committee, said: “Once again the community event was a big hit with a fantastic turnout, despite the bad weather.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere, with entertainment all day and a whole host of activities.
“I would like to thank all of our kind sponsors and volunteers for their support – without them the event would not be possible.”
