A GRIEVING mum says she is still being harassed by a sick fraudster who used images of dead babies to swindle the public.

Katie Ringer, 21, of Shoebury, sent photographs of dead children with offensive, racist and sexual comments to their distraught mothers and made up stories that she had a premature baby and needed cash for special equipment.

Ringer was locked up two years ago after admitting eight charges of harassment, 14 of fraud and one of threatening to petrol bomb a house.

But she appeared in court yesterday charged with further offences where she now lives in Norwich- and mums have set up an online support group to deal with her hate campaign.

Drewe Lock, 23, of Suffolk Avenue, Leigh, was one of Ringer’s original victims. Ringer used photographs of her still-born daughter in 2012 in a campaign of harassment and to tell others it was her baby and she needed money for the funeral.

Ringer appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with two counts of sending offensive messages, but Miss Lock told the Echo her new victims had already been in touch.

She said: “Katie sent them messages threatening to rape and kill her babies and told them to speak to me if they didn’t believe her.

“So we have got a Facebook chat going where everyone affected by her keeps in touch.

“Katie has got no remorse and she’s going to keep doing it.”

The court heard Ringer, now of Soleme Road, Mile Cross, Norwich, copied and “hijacked” Instagram accounts of two women - one who had a premature baby and another who had a newborn baby.

She claimed they were her own and used pictures of the children - one of which she said was dead - on sites she had set up asking people for money.

Ringer was snared after police, through the government’s Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (Ripa), used covert surveillance to track her down.

Denise Holland, prosecuting, said one of the victims found out an image of her newborn baby was being used on a site to raise money for a dead child.

Mrs Holland said she found out the defendant had set up a site “claiming the child was hers and that the child had died and, it seems, was trying to get money”.

When challenged, Ringer made threats that she was going to “rape and harm” the child.

Ringer also made threats to the other victim.

After finding out a picture of her premature daughter was being used on a site the victim contacted the site to ask not to use the picture or pretend the child was hers. Ringer then threatened to kidnap and kill the child.

Mrs Holland said no money has been made by Ringer as a result of the offences.

Ringer admitted two offences on March 28 this year and between March 19 and April 3 this year.

Gavin Cowe, mitigating, said Ringer was being treated by a psychiatrist for a personality disorder and also suffered from PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Miss Lock said: “I think she’s an idiot. She was given three years for what she was doing to me and the court then cut it down.

“You would think that she would do her time and be thankful that she didn’t get longer. But she is doing it again.”

Ringer will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on October 3.

She was warned “all options” were open including custody and committing the sentence to the crown court.
