A driver who was 25 times over the drug-driving limit for cocaine has been jailed for eight weeks.
Police stopped a Ford Fiesta in East Mayne, Basildon, at 1.30am on July 29.
The driver, Samuel Hawker, 27, of Bolam Lane in Buckton, Yorkshire, was tested positive for cocaine in a roadside drugs test.
Blood samples were later taken, which showed he had 255 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood. The legal limit is 10 microgrammes.
He also had 800 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood. The legal limit is 50 microgrammes.
Hawker was charged with two counts of drug-driving. He admitted the offences when he appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on November 6.
He was jailed for eight weeks, banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay £85 costs.
The court heard it was his third drug-driving offence in 11 months.
Investigating officer PC Lee Johnston said: “This was one of the highest drug-drive readings I have seen.
“If you get behind the wheel after taking drugs, you put endanger your life as well as the lives of other people.
“It’s not worth the risk.”
