A man has received 54 points on his licence after nine driving offences were committed over the course of six weeks.
Michael James Keenan, 35, of no fixed address, failed to identify a driver after a car registered in his name was captured speeding nine times on the A127.
These offences happened on August, 3, September, 9, twice on September, 12, three times on September, 18, twice on September, 19 and September, 21 all in 2016.
The vehicle that was caught speeding was a red LGV Ford Transit which activated speed cameras.
After being written to, Keenan failed to identify who the driver of the vehicle was at the time of each offence.
He was found guilty and sentenced for the nine offences at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on November 24. Keenan received 54 points on his licence, disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £1,720.
Investigating officer PC Dan Cordwell said, “We continue to see a lot of people ignoring notices sent by the police in the hope they will go away.
"They will not. Speed limits are in place for a reason, which is to keep drivers and other road users safe.
“We assess all driving offences to decide the most appropriate course of action, which can range from completing an education course, issuing a fixed penalty or taking the matter to court”
