DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Pitsea.
Police were called to reports of a man injured in Northlands Park near Felmores at around 5.30pm today (Monday).
Officers found a man collapsed. He was treated by the emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area has been cordoned off to allow investigations to take place.
Detective Inspector Julie Gowen, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “This attack would’ve taken place at a time when it’s likely there would’ve been a number of people in the park, particularly dog walkers.
“I need anyone who was in the park between 3.30pm and 5.30pm to come forward and speak to us.
“At this stage the motive behind this attack is unclear but our investigations are ongoing and we have significant resources working on it.
“A man has died and it’s really important we establish what happened.”
