Two men have been arrested following an armed robbery at a confectionary shop.
The suspects, a 27-year-old man from Rayleigh and a 35-year-old man from Basildon, entered M&S Confectioners in London Road, Rayleigh, on Sunday at around 6.10am.
The two men were believed to be armed with a gun and an axe. They demanded money and one of the men grabbed a member of staff.
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of armed robbery following an incident in Rayleigh on Sunday, January 7.
The member of staff was not injured but pressed an alarm which caused the men to run off.
Armed police carried out warrants at an address in London Road, Rayleigh, at around 2.40am today and arrested the suspects.
They remain in custody for questioning.
