THE former home of a comedy star has become a hair and beauty salon.
Lola’s Hair and Beauty Salon, in Station Approach, Laindon, has opened inside the old home of Carry On actress, Joan Sims.
The house was the former home of the star, who was born in the town in 1930.
Joan was a much-loved member of the Carry On cast from 1959 to 1969, she then made appearances in the famous BBC comedy series Only Fools and Horses.
The new salon, run by manager Emma Derbidge, has transformed Station House, just outside Laindon train station, to offer a range of hair, manicure and pedicure treatments and even sunbeds.
The salon is also credited with being a part of the Guild of Beauty Therapists, the UK’s biggest trade body for beauty therapists and hairdressers.
